04:30 am, February, 6, 2014  – Eighth Cyclone Bulletin issued at 04.30 hours on Thursday 06 February 2014

Moderate Tropical Storm EDILSON was centered at 04.00 hours near 19.6 degrees South in
latitude and 59.1 degrees East in longitude, that is at a distance of 140 km to the North East of
Mauritius. It is now moving at a speed of 15 km/h in a general South South Westerly direction. On
this trajectory, EDILSON continues to approach Mauritius.

On the actual recurved track towards the South South West, Moderate Tropical Storm EDILSON
will be at its closest distance around midday that is at about 80 km from Plaisance. There is still a
moderate risk of cyclonic conditions to be felt over Mauritius.

17h00 – February, 5, 2014 – A cyclone warning class 3 is in Force in Mauritius - 

The 6th cyclone bulletin was issued 4:45 pm.

Cyclone Edilson has doubled its speed and is moving at 15 km/h in a southerly direction. Cyclone EDILSON is centered at 300 km North-North-East of Mauritius. The weather over the island will remain cloudy with scattered showers becoming gradually
widespread and thundery during the night.
EDILSON continues to approach Mauritius and is now a serious threat. The public is advised to take all necessary precautions.

13h00 – February, 5, 2014 – A cyclone warning class 2 is in force in Mauritius.  The 5th cyclone bulletin was issued at 1 pm. EDILSON cyclone is situated at 410 km North-North-East of Mauritius and is moving at 8km/h.

A cyclone warning class 1 remains in force in Rodrigues.

05:00 – February, 5, 2014:  A cyclone warning class 1 remains in force in Mauritius.   According to the third cyclone bulletin,  issued at 5 AM, Edilson is positioned at 425 km North- North-East of Mauritius.

The Minister of Education, Vasant Bunwaree announced that there will be no school today for Primary, Secondary and Tertiary institutions.

The next cyclone bulletin will be issued at 10 am.  There is no possibility of class 2 warning before 1 pm.

16:00:  A cyclone warning class 1 is in force in Mauritius

Cyclone Edilson is evolving to the North-North-East of Mauritius and is a serious threat for the island. The Mauritius Meteorological station predicts heavy rain with thunder tonight.

12:00 -  This communique should be regarded as a pre-warning in anticipation of naming the tropical depression by tomorrow.

SPECIAL COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT 11:45 ON TUESDAY 04 FEBRUARY 2014 by the Mauritius Meteorological Station

Two low pressures with a moderate clockwise circulation have detached from the intertropical convergence zone and are moving independently. One of them located just to the north of St Brandon near 15.5 degrees south in latitude and 60.0 degrees east in longitude has developed into a Tropical Depression and is moving towards Mauritius.

There is a high probability that the tropical depression may develop further into a moderate tropical storm when it reaches the close neighbourhood of Mauritius by tomorrow.

This communique should be regarded as a pre-warning in anticipation of naming the tropical depression by tomorrow.

The weather will become cloudy to overcast with showers over highgrounds tonight. The showers will become more significant as from tomorrow with increase in wind speed and gust of the order of 60km/h.
Sea will be rough.

The public is advised to take note of further information about the weather through regular communique issued by the Meteorological Services.
